For The Sake Of Art!

Invisible tears stream down her cheeks

Her sides ache while pondering the canvas

At last they were alone, a foot apart

His head bent over a bright screen

Smiling, typing, she forgotten

She felt the anguish in the paint strokes

Could all pain be made useful

In art it’s finally understood, validated

She pointed out a shaky observation

Seeking out his eyes, a laugh, something

She would tell friends he’s not as alpha

As he pretends to be but today-

She hated how small he made her

How little she cared about herself

She had reduced her love so cheaply

She longed to touch the clumps of paint

To trace the metallic strokes

And move her body through sunbeams

Push through the gallery doors and run

So the pain could shapeshift into something new
