It must have been LOVE

It was her birthday today

She sang a string of covers

Feeling a bit peculiar

Downed a triple espresso

Disappeared without a word

The streets were chilly

She wished the passerbys’ disappearance

Catching a glimpse of her reflection

Wiped the mascara from her cheeks

Sniffed up this articulate pain

He had said forget me

She pretended to make light of him

Drifting constantly in memories shared

All that wasted devotion of him

Couldn’t be who he wanted her to be

It was a full moon tonight

She started singing right there

Searching for the pulse of her heart

Lit up by the healing power of music

Danced it off like a queen
